J. ALLEN BROWN

Midwesterner and former Black Lightning writer J Allen Brown’s faith has never gone unanswered, and his heart of servitude has lead him into the likes of some of Hollywood’s greatest directors, producers, actors, cast and crew. When he was eight he picked up the art of storytelling and fell deeply in love with it. After seven years of what felt like the token black guy on sets, Brown set his faith on putting himself in a position where he could use his voice to highlight those overlooked souls looking for rest whether it be in the stories he tells, the talent casted, the crew hired, his greatest desire is that the spiritual demand those souls are asking for, Is met on the sets they work on and the stories being told.

During his residency, J worked on his TV Pilot which at that time was called “Girl Kiss Him Goodbye” but now is known as “Dear Woman,” a story based on his life as a black hopeless romantic and his search for love [a wife] without first knowing his purpose. He’s calling it a higher romance/drama. “DEAR WOMAN, it’s Love Jones meets The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill with that narrative feel of Sex in the City. Men and women, especially of color will see themselves in a very vulnerable way like never before on TV.”
